Anne, Apricots, & a New President

Today I was trying to convey the importance of the inauguration to my 4-year-old sister...
here's how it went...

Me: Obama is going to be president today

Anne: Who? Barack Obama?

Me: Yeah

Anne: Eeeee!!! I think he makes good choices.

Me: Let's hope so.

Anne: Well, for the economy at least.

Me: He's..we've had a bunch of presidents and he's the first one that is black - which is cool

Anne: Yeah. I think all the other ones were apricot.

Me: Yeah, they were white.

Anne: Like us?

Me: Yeah.

Anne: Ok. I'm going back to my coloring now.

Somehow, I think that some of the importance of the event was lost...
